Making your own playdough and paint is a simple, non-toxic and economical way to enjoy arts and crafts. When school holiday boredom sets in, kids will love to get in the kitchen and create their own art supplies.
Using everyday ingredients, you can whip up art supplies in less than 10 minutes, for safe, fun and creative play. Why not try adding different textures to your playdough to maximise the sensory experience - glitter, rice or sprinkles can be fun additions that kids will find really fun!
Did you know the Lunch Punch sandwich cutters work really well with playdough? They are specially designed with imprint features like faces, to make fun and unique shapes like unicorns, mermaids, dinosaurs, aliens and more.
Ok, let's make some crafty fun!
You will need:
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 tbs oil
1 cup cold water
2 drops liquid food colouring
Combine plain flour and salt.
Add water, food colouring and oil. Mix until ingredients are combined.
If the consistency is too wet, add a little extra plain flour.
You will need:
2 cups flour
2 cups salt
2 cups warm water
Take a large bowl and mix in the flour and salt. Add the water and continue mixing until the mixture is completely blended.
Divide the mixture into different containers and add a different food colouring into each one. Stir well until you get a smooth coloured mixture. For mess free play paint can be put into squeezy sauce bottles or use our jumbo silicone cups for perfect little paint pots.
And your homemade paint is now complete!
